Left 4 Dead 2 Announced by Valve
Courtesy of Rock Paper Shotgun (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2009/06/01/left-4-dead-2-exclusive-rps-preview/)
Valve has decided to release a sequel to Left 4 Dead, which explains the lack of new maps or functionality from valve directly. The included article here goes into more detail as to what specifically is being added (chainsaws and frying pans!!!!!!!). I'll let you the reader delve deeper to find out more, pretty good preview. No videos or gameplay yet though, so we'll see. Set to come out Mid-November of this year.
Janeric is summarily banned from using the incendiary ammo though, in advance of release. Play a few rounds of L4D with us on the weekends to find out why. [Submitted by =GUN=upsco2002]

MW2 New Trailer
Apparently, Infinity Ward and Activision Blizzard have come to the conclusion that the demographics of those who play and enjoy the Call of Duty series and those who watch the NBA overlap significantly, because there's no other way to explain the fact that they released a 17-second gameplay clip of the game that was shown during the match between Orlando Magic and the Boston Celtics (which won by way of a last second shot).
The teaser video, which you can watch at the bottom of this article, is hyping up the fact that Modern Warfare 2 will get a world premiere video, set to arrive on May 24. If you plan on watching it, be sure to check out the finals of the NBA Easter Conference, as in addition to a great game of basketball, you will also see in-game footage from Modern Warfare 2.
Modern Warfare 2, which has dropped the Call of Duty moniker in order to be spun off as a franchise that will be solely developed by Infinity Ward, is set to arrive during this year (probably in time for the Christmas shopping frenzy) and is set to build on what the first Modern Warfare game offered.
A previous trailer for the title, this time featuring no actual gameplay, was released earlier and hinted at quite significant changes for the game. Apparently, some of the protagonists will be Russians, there will be fighting in heavily populated urban areas and the equipment available will be much more diverse.
The new trailer shows, in quick succession, helicopter assaults, submersibles and snowmobiles involved in combat. Quick-eyed viewers have also seen some hand to hand combat moves. Probably, everything will be expanded upon and explained in the full gameplay trailer, which will be first shown on May 24.

BF1943 release plans explained, as well as cost
Looks like EA is ready to give more details on BF1943. Price point of $15 now for the game is expected, released to consoles in June, PCs in September. Source: BluesNews. So, looks like we'll have to wait until the fall before we decide to pick this one up as a group, on the PC anyway. But, at least they're only going to charge $15 for a game that includes only three maps (at release) and has a smaller limit on number of players (compared to other BF franchise games). Battlefield 1943 Impressions, new video
Gamespot: With support for 24 players, this map had a lot going on. We were never hard-pressed to find some sort of scuffle nearby, and the vehicles available to you mean you can find it by land, air, or sea. With three different classes, you can also choose from a few different combat styles. The methodical player can roll as a scout in a ghilli suit, planting remote-detonated explosives on a road and waiting in the bushes until a jeep loaded with enemies comes driving by. The target-practice enthusiast can hop into an antiaircraft gun and shoot at the fighter jets buzzing through the sky, or hop into an air-raid shelter and call in his own assault from on high. Run-and-gunners can just dash around with a machine gun shooting anything running nearby. Bottom line: There are plenty of ways to wage this war.

New Nazi Zombie level coming in Call of Duty: World at War DLC?
Last week the long awaited 1.2 PC patch for Call of Duty: World at War was released and it included a new multiplayer map (actually a revised version of an older map). But developer Treyarch and publisher Activision are planning to release a major map pack for the WWII shooter and it looks like more specific news will be coming soon-ish.
The game's official web site is already flashing a message that you can see above you for a few seconds and a message on the game's official message board also confirms that we can expect to see at least one new official Nazi Zombie level will be included in the package. The big question: Will PC owners have to wait until after their console counterparts to get access to the map pack? We should know something soon. [Submitted by =GUN=Amoo]
